New Xerox DocuMate 700 Versatile Scanning Solution for Large Documents

(PLEASONTON, CA) - Xerox Corporation (NYSE: XRX) today announced the Xerox DocuMate™ 700, an 11" x 17" flatbed scanner with a built-in USB hub. The hub enables the DocuMate 700 to be connected directly to a PC and used as a stand-alone flatbed scanner or it can be connected through its USB port to an existing ADF (automatic document fed) scanner for added functionality.

"Adding new functionality to an already valuable office product is just smart business, especially during challenging economic times," said John Capurso, vice president of marketing for Visioneer, Xerox's authorized trademark licensee. "The Xerox DocuMate 700 is a powerful tool as a stand-alone scanner and it's a great add-on product for any DocuMate scanner that you already own. Now there is no need to install numerous flatbed scanners across a network if the majority of users do not require this function on a frequent basis. You now have a new option to simply add flatbed capability to your existing set-up, saving you time and money."

Powerful Scanning at the Touch of a Button
The Xerox DocuMate 700 has a generous flatbed that enables users to scan large documents up to A3 (11 x 17") size. It offers users the option to scan a wide variety of documents, such as books, magazines, plastic cards and fragile paper. Powered by Visioneer OneTouch® technology, the scanner allows users to scan to the "destination" of their choice by pressing a single button, eliminating multiple steps usually required to save scanned documents in popular file formats. The DocuMate 700 can scan documents to 9 preset, yet completely configurable, destinations. The scanner includes Kofax VRS, Nuance PaperPort and OmniPage Pro OCR for converting high volumes of paper and forms into files that can be searched and edited.

The Xerox DocuMate 700 scanner has the ability to instantly scan a document into a searchable PDF file, and send it to one of the many ECM applications that Visioneer has developed links to such as Xerox DocuShare™, ScanFlow® Store, Docuware®, Microsoft SharePoint®, Kofax Ascent® Collection Server, EMC Captiva® QuickScan Pro®, FileBound®, Laserfiche® and/or to devices such as printers and networked storage systems in just one touch.

Pricing and Availability
The Xerox DocuMate 700 scanner is priced at $995 and is available immediately through online channel partners and major resellers.

Fujitsu Introduces Two New ScanSnap Scanners with Advanced Productivity Features for Business Uers Everywhere

(SUNNYVALE, CA) — Fujitsu Computer Products of America, Inc., the market leader in document imaging scanners and services, today introduced two new ScanSnap scanning solutions for PC and Macintosh® users. The ScanSnap S1500, for PC, and the ScanSnap S1500M, for Mac, are engineered with the same ease-of-use as its predecessors, while providing additional productivity features to help streamline organization and business operations. The devices feature a new sleek design, offer advanced intelligent technology, faster scanning speeds, and provide a newly designed software interface to unlock the most productive scanning experience.

“Since the launch of the first ScanSnap device six years ago, Fujitsu has rolled out multiple generations, each with new features and increased performance, to meet the growing demands of our customers. Over the years, we’ve learned that productivity and efficiency is of paramount importance to our users” said Scott Francis, senior director of product marketing, Imaging Products Group, Fujitsu Computer Products of America, Inc. “The newest ScanSnap S1500 and S1500M underscore the company’s commitment to building strong products based on what our users need. With the newest intelligent scanning features and enhanced scanning speeds, users can be more productive without requiring excessive time to process documents.”

Simple, Versatile, Robust
New to users, ScanSnap S1500 and S1500M come bundled with advanced features to make scanning easier and more intuitive. The intelligent processing allows users to scan a variety of documents without having to adjust scanner settings. With the simple push of a button, ScanSnap transforms stacks of paper into digital images automatically, selecting the page size, the page orientation, color setting and whether it’s a double-sided or single-sided scan. At the same time, new intelligent paper feed detection, which is based on ultrasonic technology, senses multi-feeds and provides users with an additional layer of security in avoiding lost images.

Image quality has always been a priority feature in the Fujitsu ScanSnap family. With a new automatic image quality adjustment feature, the ScanSnap evaluates the document size and adjusts the resolution accordingly, as well as identifies a document as color, black & white and now grayscale. This is especially important for small images or text within business cards and small receipts that typically include fine print. ScanSnap automatically adjusts the settings for each page so that the operator doesn’t have to.

The new scanners feature higher resolutions and faster scanning speeds of up to 20 pages per minute (ppm) or 40 images per minute (ipm). With the newly designed ScanSnap Manager and Quick Menu, users can choose to scan documents directly to e-mail, save scans to selectable folders, send scans directly to a printer, or to an application bundled with ScanSnap.

Fujitsu ScanSnap S1500 - New Productivity Features
The Fujitsu ScanSnap S1500 for PC comes bundled with Adobe® Acrobat® 9 Standard and new versions of ScanSnap Organizer and CardMinder software to help users control and secure paperwork more efficiently, while also maintaining all of the rich features and capabilities that have made the ScanSnap line an award-winning device.

The new ScanSnap Organizer 4.0 enhances the ease-of-use, organization and productivity of PDF scanning with the introduction of three new features – users can drag and drop customizable keywords into thumbnails, use a standard highlighter pen to automatically embed searchable keywords directly into files, and perform advanced cropping operations. Business card scanning has also become more versatile in the new S1500 through the enhanced CardMinder business card software 4.0 to capture and export contact information into Outlook, Act! or Goldmine.

Fujitsu ScanSnap S1500M - What's New for Mac Users

Business card scanning has just become easier. The new software seamlessly transforms business cards into editable information and can be saved to text, HTML and vCard formats, or exported to other contact managers. In just a few clicks users can digitize their paper-based rolodex and update the content of their electronic address book directly into their favorite contact management applications like Address Book, AppleWorks, Entourage, Now Contact and iSync.

The ScanSnap Manager for Mac adds a new auto keyword feature that converts highlighted text into searchable PDF keywords using a standard highlighter pen, making the device an even more ideal productivity tool.

Appealing to home office and business users, ScanSnap provides a simple, fast and easy-to-use method for converting information contained on paper into digital PDF files at the push of a button. The resulting files can be easily stored locally, on the network, or within an internet based storage service such Microsoft Office Live or Apple’s iDisk.
